Maanasa Mendu, a Ohio 9th grader, developed an inexpensive energy-producing device inspired by systems observed in plants, winning the 2016 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge. Maanasa hopes her invention will help to provide energy to the world in an environmentally friendly way.
