The theme for this 12 months – “Nature for Water” – calls consideration to an underappreciated answer for this rising menace. Whereas the traditional response is to sink more cash into “constructed” infrastructure (like dams, reservoirs and formal irrigation schemes), analysis in Ghana and different nations means that “pure” infrastructure (reminiscent of wetlands, floodplains and watersheds), when correctly managed, can even assist enhance the provision of water, whereas sustaining the livelihoods of the many individuals who rely upon these pure sources.
