Pollution is a universal problem which is being discussed at length every where in the world. Air pollution causes damages to our health. We find it difficult to breathe when we are in city automobiles. At every traffic signal, the vehicles in front will supply us plenty of carbon dioxide, causing suffocation.
Carbon dioxide emissions are more, and increasing by the day, than a decade ago. Slowly and gradually it is warming the Earth. We are helping the process by cutting down trees. Deforestation has deprived the Earth of its best carbon dioxide absorbers. And doing this cruel act we create vast stretches of bare naked land which absorb heat happily. This is injustice to the next generation, our own children and grand children. Though aware of this fact, we continue to generate electricity from burning of fossil fuels. We are concerned about the economic factor, money in the pocket. We are worried about today. It will cost us more if and when we seek alternative means. The ideal clean energy power plants, such as hydroelectric, wind turbines, or solar power are expensive, now, to produce. When we announce boldly that we use less energy at home to reduce fossil fuel emissions, we are lying to ourselves, we are lying to our children, we are lying to our friends, and above all we are lying to our next generation, our grand children.
If you can afford it, buy a more fuel efficient vehicle. It is easy to say such things. May be we can’t afford it. But if we all pitch in, we can accomplish a lot, for the sake our children and grand children.
