For many years, scientists have been on their blow horns internationally to get manufacturers and other persons involved in cleaning up the planet so the next generation would have clean air and less polluted world to live in. Bamboo has been discovered to be able to contribute a lot of benefits to the world for our ecological and atmospheric survival. Bamboo, though a grass, grows like a tree. It can grow at its tallest more than 100 feet and is able to replenish itself while growing by sending out new shoots along the way. The plant generates its own anti-microbial agent called bamboo-kun, which repels and protects the plant from attacking fungus or pests. With other plants, there needs to be the using of pesticides and fungicides which are harmful to the soil and the environment.
Bamboo though a grass which grows likes a tree is able to eliminate the possibility of soil erosion, during bad weathers like hurricanes or storms. The roots hold the soil together so there are no land slippages when the earth is saturated with water. The soil also helps to replenish the earth with needed nutrients to enhance growth. Research has shown, that, during times of over planting or any disaster that affects the atmosphere or soil, bamboo is used to replenish the soil and clean up the atmosphere. Bamboo is able to absorb as much as 35% of the carbon dioxide generated by coal mines, factory exhausts, and carbon gasses that get into the atmosphere from cars, busses, trucks and any other situation that may generate carbon gasses to pollute the atmosphere. The bamboo plant produces about 30% of the needed oxygen to replenish the earth. Imaging, one plant is able to clean up pollutants that can cause respiratory illnesses, skin diseases, allergies and other medical situations.
Our goal is helping our sick planet to become well. And if we have a natural source that is able to help us to get on this road without many costs to the pocket of almost any government; then, why not come together and make this happen. Remember the planet is the only one we have. Why try to go and populate Mars, maybe we may do the same thing there! Our planet is in need of help, and based on the many scientific researches done on bamboo, I believe this is the way to go.
Clothing is also brought in the mix; as bamboo fiber fabrics are becoming the new cotton. It has such potential to eliminate allergies, asthma, fungus that causes athletes’ foot, mold from our linen, maintain and regulate proper body temperatures because of the biological structure of the cells, how much more the advantages of protecting the wearer of these garments from as much as 99% of the sun’s harmful rays. Just think what this plant has in its arsenal for mankind, when used to its full potential.
