WATCH: Horror as River Wye torrent swamps car in middle of road | Weather | News

In the video, the majority of the car is covered in water as the severe flooding pushes the vehicle down the road. Two men can be seen attempting to stop the car from moving any further in the footage. Eventually, the car comes to a standstill but the vehicle is engulfed by the water.

Earlier today BBC forecaster Carol Kirkwood warned of severe flooding after a month of rain fell last weekend.

Ms Kirkwood said: “We’ve got sunny spells and blustery showers but having said that we’re not out of the woods just yet.

“Currently there are five severe flood warnings in force and 310 flood warnings out in England, Wales and also Scotland.

“Storm Denis is going to continue to push towards Scandinavia but the isobars show it’s still going to be windy.

“The Met Office still has wind warnings out, the strongest winds today across the far north of Scotland gusting 60mph to 70mph.

“In addition to that it’s not going to be bone dry, the forecast is sunshine and showers.”

She continued: “The showers are coming in from the west and moving eastwards. Some of them heavy, some of them merging, some with hail, thunder and lightning.

“Temperature wise we’re looking at around 9C to 11C.

The Met Office website said Britons should expect “delays to road, rail, air, and ferry transport are likely” as well as journeys taking longer in general.

Met Office meteorologist, Simon Partridge, said: “We are still feeling the effects of Storm Dennis as we wake up first thing this morning.

“It’s a much colder feel and a mixture of blustery showers around as well but it’s another windy day particularly in the west and the north.”
