Goal aims for carbon neutral, 100% renewable energy by 2050
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A green future could be on the way for La Crosse County.
The goal is for the County to be carbon neutral along with using 100 percent renewable energy by 2050 is the focus of a resolution being considered at a meeting Monday.
It could impact land use, energy conservation and economic development.
That is if it is approved by the County’s Planning, Resources and Development committee.
The resolution notes efforts by the county and local partners that are already in place and builds on earlier efforts.
“So continue to putting energy reducing lights, to continue to find ways to reduce the amount of energy that we’re using,” said La Crosse County administrator Steve O’Malley.
County leaders are hopeful that county vehicles could be transitioned away from using gas during the next 30 years.
