Dow Chemical Ropes Northrop Grumman Into Pollution Suit


Law360 (September 1, 2021, 3:30 PM EDT) — The Dow Chemical Company lobbed water contamination claims against Northrop Grumman Corp and seven others in New York federal court, saying the entities are partly to blame if a New York water utility proves Dow Chemical’s liability for groundwater pollution.

Dow Chemical and several other companies are currently defending against allegations that they negligently caused 1,4-dioxane, a carcinogenic compound, to leach into wells operated by New York American Water Company, which provides water to 125,000 people in New York state.
