Asbestos removal has begun at the former Westinghouse building at 200 E. Fifth St. The Richland County Land Bank awarded the demolition contract for the former Westinghouse building to R&D Excavating of Crestline in August. Ryan Lykins of R&D Excavating Monday said asbestos removal will take six to eight weeks, and a news conference will be held before demolition begins. The land bank, the owner of the former Westinghouse building on East Fifth Street and its adjacent 14 acres, said the site will be cleaned up.
