GEST Carts, which stands for Green, Easy, Safe Transportation, is now available in Old Town Scottsdale.
The 100% electric carts operate similar to car transportation services like Uber or Lyft, according to a press release. Scottsdale riders can “call” a cart through the mobile app that tracks driver locations and estimated arrival times.
The vehicles are able to drive on main roads, keeping with the flow of traffic, but in a much more sustainable and enjoyable way than traditional transportation.
The app is downloadable through the Apple and Google Play stores
The business is owned by long-time Valley attorney, community leader and active Thunderbird Jason Pritchett, who is the president of Radix Law.
Radix Law is a multi-lawyer traditional law firm approved as an Alternative Business Structure in the United States. Jason partnered with his brother Japheth Pritchett to bring the brand to Arizona after seeing the franchise achieve success across Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, Denver and Las Vegas since its debut in 2018.
“When researching the business — beyond the obvious environmental benefits — I loved that although open-air, each GEST Cart offers seat belts, air conditioning and even heat for guests, something lacking as it relates to alternative transportation in south Scottsdale’s popular entertainment district,” Pritchett said in the release. “In addition, rides on GEST Carts are 100% free to riders.”
According to Pritchett, rides are free thanks to partnerships with businesses and events who advertise and market themselves on the GEST Carts.
To start, there will be six GEST Carts in operation, bringing approximately 25 jobs to the area. GEST Carts may travel up to 35 miles per hour, and will drive between Miller Road to the east, Goldwater Boulevard to the west, Chaparral Road to the north and Osborn Road to the south.
Pritchett expects GEST Carts to be particularly popular to those who live or are staying at hotels or rentals in the area and traveling to the entertainment options nearby, as well as those enjoying events around the Super Bowl, Barrett-Jackson, spring training, the WM Phoenix Open and other large-scale events.
By the year’s end, Pritchett expects to expand further into Scottsdale and Tempe to partner with events on safe transportation options, as well as downtown Phoenix and other cities in the East Valley.
