Dapperton’s cover of “Landslide” marks his first outing since appearing on Anna of the North’s “Meteorite” in May, and according to the artist, the cover marks “the start of a new chapter”.
Dapperton wrote in a statement on socials, “This year has brought on a lot of changes in my life. I never thought the range of emotional highs and lows could become greater than they once were. I’ve felt so much pride, a feeling proven hard for me to conjure up, to be able to work with new partners like Warner Records and BMG.”
As well as writing about the “first panic attack I’ve experienced” and “having to confront childhood trauma”, Dapperton wrote that he’s been able “to manage this turbulence in stride” thanks to some “incredible people in my life”.
“In honour of moving forward and turning the tide, I wanted to cover a song that has always helped me through,” he added. “It’s highly relatable to me in so many ways and uniquely resonates within my soul. I am pleased to announce this cover of “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac as an ode to signing with Warner Records and the start of a new chapter. A brand new vision is in the works and will be with you shortly.”
