The Hatchery is an emerging innovation program at CHRHS that works to foster a new generation of hands-on thinkers who take an ecologically-responsible, community-serving approach to design, according to a news release.
Students at the Hatchery have made a commitment to Radical Reuse, which is the sourcing of materials from the region’s waste streams, as opposed to buying new materials, whenever possible.
On March 22, students will deliver a presentation on Radical Reuse and Deconstruction that is to encourage these practices in the community.
Students will also lead tours of the student-built Hatchery workshop and the exhibition of their Wastes to Resources projects (some for sale).
There will be food and beverages. Michael Mullins, principal of Cranesport LLC, is sponsoring the event.
The Midcoast Climate, Energy, and Green Building Happy Hour is an informal networking event for anyone working or interested. The group gathers every one to two months for community announcements, events, jobs, plus snacks, drinks, and good company. Email organizers Amanda Dwelley and Jess Scott to add a friend to the distribution list for the April event.
